NB All of our coaches have a range of skills to offer you. These can enable you to break through the barriers that are holding you back in many areas of your life.

I’m passionately interested in helping people to move beyond the barriers that are holding them back, in any area of their lives. I love watching people learn to see themselves as others see them, and learn to appreciate their own strengths and qualities. In my experience, learning to value yourself has a massive effect on your confidence and a huge knock on effect to the people around you.

I don’t know about you but I have a couple of voices in my head that either encourage me or give me a really hard time. Paul McGee (The Sumo Guy) calls these your ‘Inner Coach’ and your ‘Inner Critic’. My ‘Inner Critic’ likes to remind me how rubbish I am at some things, such as meeting my friends on time on a Friday evening, for instance. My ‘Inner Coach’ reminds me I’m a busy person, that my friends love and accept me and that I am getting better at being on time. My ‘Inner Coach’ also reminds me that after all I’m very rarely late for work appointments… I believe it is incredibly important to learn to listen much more to your ‘Inner Coach’.

As young children most of us receive a lot of encouragement to learn some of the basics like eating, walking and talking for ourselves. We have great coaches – mainly our parents and families. I see my role as a coach, partly as a reflector, to ask you the kind of questions that help you to wake up to what you do really well, and how well you’re learning, so you can learn to tap into your own ‘Inner Coach’, and say thank you for letting me know that and please be quiet now, to your own ‘Inner Critic’.

I do this work because I personally, have received so much from the kindness and encouragement of others to work through my own issues or ‘stuff’ (the technical term I like to use)! Through TA (Transactional Analysis) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), I have developed an understanding of both where my issues stemmed from and how to stop them ruling my life. Now I help other people move beyond some of their limiting beliefs to create the kind of life they really want to live, whether that be about increased happiness, better health, more fulfilling work, living an abundant life, or whatever else it is that you desire.

For many years I have worked with people in learning environments, as a trainer and organisational development specialist, work that I still carry out. So, if you want to let go of some of your limiting beliefs, learn more about the kinds of thoughts and behaviours that are going to get you far more of what you want, and you’d like some coaching from me, please get in touch with me at Potential Works Coaching on 07799 465962 or email me at: info.potentialworks@yahoo.co.uk

Derek Ward NLP Master Practitioner and Results Coach

Special areas of interest for Breakthrough & Performance Coaching:

Coaching young people for achievement and happiness

Coaching men for success in all areas

Coaching for the development of outstanding communication skills

I am a trainer and personal development coach. I also run my own self awareness and development company for young people, called Future Positive (Cumbria) Ltd. I am committed to supporting young people to understand the world around them, as well as their own internal processes and how they relate to other people and deal with their behaviour.

I love to witness the development of young people. The results they achieve after working in group situations with me and my selected associate trainers often far exceeds the expectations of the schools they are drawn from, and of the individuals themselves. My colleagues are hand picked because of their communication skills, and their ability to relate to young people and understand the challenges they face in today’s society.

I have worked in many fields with young people, and also with elderly people and adults dealing with challenging personal circumstances. For example, I’ve worked with people recovering from damaging behaviours to enable them to create positive and empowered futures for themselves. I have also in the past, worked in the field of bereavement as a volunteer support worker.

I am particularly passionate about working with men to develop their emotional intelligence, communication skills and to expand their potential as partners, fathers, friends and co-workers. As a man, I feel these are areas many men can be reluctant to address. But like all human beings men need to express themselves through caring for others (and for themselves) just as much as women do. They may do this differently, but learning who you truly are as a man can have a profound effect on all your relationships.

This is certainly my experience, and it has taken me many years and the of support and encouragement of some special people to enable me to become the man I am now proud to be. There is no loss of masculinity involved, in fact learning this information and these skills allows you to become a far better man in every sense of the word. Masculine, male and powerful too, in ways that motivate and inspire others.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in finding out more about through coaching sessions with me, please contact me at Potential Works Coaching on 07799 465962, or email me at: info.potentialworks@yahoo.co.uk

Coaching people with depression or stress

Coaching people with drug and/or alcohol issues

Coaching for greater levels of happiness and achievement

I am a personal development coach with a particular interest in supporting people to help them change behaviours which sabotage their own success and happiness. I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing depression, and/or stress. If you are experiencing stress or are living with depression, know that you can change this.

In order to live the life you have always dreamed of, and to create the opportunities that will enable you to feel fulfilled, you may need to change the way you currently think. Through the coaching sessions with me you will learn new tools that will empower you and those around you to achieve the goals and positive outcomes that you deserve in life.

Like most people, I have worked through my own issues and received support and guidance from a number of individuals and agencies who had my best interests at heart. I am now passionately committed to assisting other people to do the same. I never thought I could be as happy as I am now and other people tell me I am one of the happiest people they know.

This wasn’t always so. I have achieved this level of contentment and excitement about life and the future through different personal development opportunities I was given. It is now my mission in life is to encourage and support other people do the same.

I have worked for many years with people recovering from addictions, in particular drug and alcohol addiction. I have also worked for a local charity for a number of years to support the families of drug and alcohol users.

In addition I have worked with young people with challenging behaviour, to help them to develop self awareness and self belief in order to maintain a fulfilling life. I have also worked with Derek Ward, one of my Potential Works colleagues, within his projects with young people at Future Positive (Cumbria) Ltd.

I also have experience of working with elderly people displaying challenging behaviours through mental illnesses, such as dementia.
